For my next column in American Libraries, I'll be discussing the Internet
Scout, <http://scout.cs.wisc.edu/> , a project focusing on virtual
"readers' advisory" services for the Internet. In 1998, Internet Scout will
be funded with a $3,000,000 grant from the National Science Foundation.
I'd like both experienced comments and first-time impressions of this
project's offerings. Did you know these services exist? Do you use these
services? If not, why not? (Are you using something else?) If you use
Scout resources, what do you like best about them? Take a looky-loo to
see what this librarian-operated project has to offer, and let me know what
you think. If you send me comments for my article, please include your

This is an LC-classified archive of over 21,000 resources, collected from
Scout Reports. The Signpost is also a testbed for Dublin Core cataloging.

Moderated by Internet veteran Gleason Sackman, this is a sort of Internet
news-bulletin service, available through email, the Web, and other means.
The KIDS Report (http://scout.cs.wisc.edu/scout/KIDS/)
KIDS (Kids Identifying and Reporting Sites) is a twice-monthly report by
kids, for kids.
