13th ANNUAL APPLE LIBRARY USERS GROUP MEETING

Please join us at the 13th Annual Apple Library Users Group meeting =
to be held on July 1 at Apple Computer=B9s headquarters in Cupertino, =
California during the American Library Association Conference from =
8:00am - 4:00pm. We will be featuring a presentation by Apple=B9s =
chief evangelist, Guy Kawasaki, as well as demonstrations of some of =
our recent research in education and the Internet. Short =
descriptions of these presentations follow:
Saving Computer Users From the Gates of Hell
by Guy Kawasaki
Guy Kawasaki, Apple Fellow and noted author, columnist =
(Forbes), and speaker, and the founder of various personal computing =
enterprises, was responsible for pioneering Apple's software =
evangelism program for the Macintosh computer. Kawasaki was one of =
the key individuals responsible for the successful introduction of =
the original Macintosh computer in 1984. In this capacity, he =
perpetuated the term "software evangelist" in his highly successful =
efforts to support Macintosh software developers. Come hear Guy =
talk about Apple, the computer market and =B3How to Drive Your =
Competition Crazy.=B2
Creating Dynamic Web Applications
by Jim Walsh, Director, Web Applications, Apple Computer, Inc.
One of the most exciting aspects of the worldwide web is its =
ability to deliver information to any computer in the world with =
internet access and a web browser. Up until this point, though, a =
major limitation has been that authoring and maintaining a website =
whose content changes frequently--such as a catalogs of information =
or resources--is an arduous task which requires specialized knowledge =
and tools. We would like to demonstrate a tool now in use internally =
at Apple which allows ordinary users to create and control "catalog" =
type websites entirely through a standard web browser, without the =
need for any special computer background.
There will also be time for discussion groups, a tour of the =
Apple Library and a visit to the Apple Company Store. The cost of =
this meeting is $10 which includes round trip transporation from =
Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco to Cupertino and back, a =
continental breakfast, and a delicious lunch.
