ANNOUNCEMENT OF TEMPORARY LIBRARY FACULTY VACANCY

POSITION:  Information Services Librarian (Temporary Full-time)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Head of Library Information Services, the Information
Services (IS) Librarian will provide a full range of information
services support to ISU Library users.  Typical duties and
responsibilities will be determined based on candidate strengths and
experience and may include, but not be limited to:  participate in
informal and formal library instruction activities; provide reference
service at the Information Desk; and participate in the development
and revision of library instruction materials.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:  Master=92s Degree; general knowledge and understanding of
electronic information resources (Internet, CD-ROM databases, OPACs,
etc.) and related concepts; good written and verbal communications
skills; commitment to public service; interpersonal skills that allow
for active interaction with peers and a diverse population of library
users.   Desired:  ALA-accredited Master=92s degree, academic library
experience, and teaching experience.

AVAILABLE/TERM  :  August 1, 1997 until May 31, 1998

SALARY:  $24,000 with benefits

ABOUT THE LIBRARY:
As a component of the University=92s Information Services Division,
Indiana State University Library serves over 540 faculty and 10,500
students.  There are 29 faculty and 47 full-time support staff
positions.  Collections number approx. 2,000,000 items which are
accessible using Ameritech/ NOTIS, an on-line integrated library
system.  A library presence on WWW (http://odin.indstate.edu) and an
extensive CD-ROM network also support information access and
retrieval.
