of the server.

I use a combination approach of FORTRES 101 and IKIOSK. I set the bookmarks to
only the URL's that we want and then disable the Add Bookmarks command. It
seems to be impenetrable so far. Still, never underestimate an undergrad
computer science major.

Nick,
Are your public workstations using Windows 3.x? If so, you can run
Netscape in kiosk mode.
First, be sure to bookmark your desired home page. Then set your home page
under OPTIONS/GENERAL PREFERENCES/APPEARANCE. Next, copy your Netscape
icon to the Start Up group. Then edit the Properties of Netscape in your
Start Up group to read "C:\NETSCAPE\NETSCAPE.EXE -K" (that's a space, a
minus and a "k"). I'm assuming "C" is your hard drive and that Netscape is
in a subdirectory called "Netscape."
Kiosk mode turns off File, Edit, View, Go, Bookmarks and all the other
features one would see at the top of the screen--including the Back,
Forward, Home and Reload buttons. Most of these features are still there
but need control key equivalents, CTRL-P to print and CTRL-B to bring up
bookmarks to take you back to your home page.
If you are using Windows 3.x at your public workstations, then be sure to
also use the freeware program Secure Group to lock groups you don't want
the public to use. To find Secure Group, just search the Internet using
your favorite search engine for SECGP115.ZIP.
