CALL FOR PROPOSALS
The focus of the NAU/web.97 conference will be on issues surrounding the
design and creation of web-based course materials, pedagogical strategies
undergirding design, development, and delivery decisions and the integration
of the Web into higher education courses. The intended audience is higher
education faculty, corporate trainers and technical support personnel.
This conference will present educators with practical answers to questions
like "How do I get started?" "What are the elements of a effective Web-based
course?" "How do I make my course interactive?" and "How do I assess
learning in Web-based courses?" In addition, various course-creation and
delivery tools will be showcased.
CONFERENCE THEMES
* Educational Strategies for Web-based Courses
* Designing Web-based Course Materials
* Incorporating Interaction and Communication in Web-based Courses
* Assessment of Web-based learning
* Operational Issues: Programming and Technical Support of Web-based Courses
* Web Futures: Pedagogical, Philosophical, and Theoretical Issues
You are invited to share your expertise, experience, and ideas by
demonstrating and discussing your course, offering a pre-conference
workshop, presenting a paper, organizing a round table or a panel
discussion. We invite presentations that focus on the pedagogical and
instructional design decisions behind the materials appearing on the course
pages, and presentations that will involve the active participation of
conference attendees.
SUBMISSIONS
Sessions will last 50 minutes, with one paper presented each session, as we
wish to allow ample time for discussion. All proposals based on the
conference themes should be submitted for review as 500-750 word summaries,
with an abstract of no more than 100 words. If a submission is chosen, these
abstracts will appear in an on-line program and other conference
information. Full papers should be submitted in plain text or HTML markup.
The following information must be included in the proposal:
* Title of workshop, paper, roundtable or panel as it should appear in the
program
* Abstract of no more than 100 words.
* The following information, as it applies, adapted for either a
theoretical or practioner perspective:
* Objective
* Perspective(s) or theoretical framework
* Methods and techniques
* Data sources
* Results and conclusions
* Theme area to which presentation belongs
* Full name, address, telephone and fax number of principal presenter
* Email address (required) and URL (if available)
* Please indicate if you would be willing to present twice to allow all
those interested to attend your session.
* Exact requirements for audio-visual equipment, including required Internet
access (if any).
