Rosary College is seeking a library & information science
educator to serve as dean of its nationally recognized Graduate
School of Library & Information Science (GSLIS). The school
offers an ALA accredited master's degree program in library and
information science (MLIS) as well as certificates of advanced
study. It jointly offers the Master of Science in Management
Information Systems with the Rosary College Graduate School of
Business as well as combined degree programs with several other
institutions.
The qualified candidate will hold a degree from an ALA/COA
accredited program or its equivalent as well as a research
doctorate. The doctorate need not be in the field of library &
information science. The candidate should have experience in
library and information science education and a strong
publication record that would qualify for appointment at the
senior level. The person sought will have strong leadership
skills with a management style that builds consensus. The
candidate will have the ability to work with external publics,
especially the library & information science community. The new
dean will guide the GSLIS in achieving the new vision for Rosary
College. The candidate will have commitments to distance
education, fund-raising, and a broad range of library &
information science programs as well as a commitment to
information technology.
The GSLIS is a leading program of Rosary College. The College
is looking forward toward celebrating its centennial in 2001 and
expects the GSLIS to play a key role in its growth into the new
millennium.
Rosary College is a Carnegie Master's I level institution
with an undergraduate College of Arts & Sciences, Graduate School
of Library & Information Science, Graduate School of Business and
School of Education. The College is located in a beautifully
wooded suburb near Chicago with easy access to this major city.
Salary and benefits are competitive. The successful candidate
