ABout OCR. Our only experience is that our circulation system has used
OCR labels since its inception, and that we still have OCR labels in our
books. The system (CARL) now uses Bar Code Labels as well, and we will
soon convert FROM OCR. OCR labels appear to be a dying technology. Purchasing
and repairing OCR equipment is increasingly difficult.

If you are contemplating converting to a Circulation system with OCR labels,
I would advise strongly against it. If you are contemplating using OCR for
other (such as full text) conversion, that's another question -- and one
in which I have no useful experience.
