I totally agree with Mr. Poulson's suggestion.
As far as I know there are mailing lists regarding job-announcement and
conference-announcement. For library related job is "LIBJOBS@INFOSERV.
NLC-BNC.CA" , and for carlendar for library related works is "LIB-CAL" or
something. If anyone wants to get information about these matter, try to
subscribe them.

Here is my response on this topic...
As the editor of a different electronic discussion group (BUSLIB-L,
for Business Librarians), I think that you might want to reconsider your
complaint.
An editor can only edit/process that which is sent to the editor.
For instance, BUSLIB-L has over 1,000 subscribers, with about 20
non-English speaking countries represented (typically 1-3 subscribers
from each non-English country). More than 98% of the postings to
BUSLIB-L are in English. We have frequent contributors to the list from
Canada, Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and South Africa.
But how do I pull people's teeth to get them to subscribe, contribute and
take part in dialogues with people from other countries?
BUSLIB-L has no restrictions on country of origin. Short of
offering simultaneous translations to/from every languge on earth (which
would be difficult for people with ASCII character sets), how do I as an
editor reach out, and get more people/countries plugged into our resources?

The other option available is to use a mail client (such as Pegasus)
that allows you to filter incoming mail and either redirect it into
various folders or into the trash simply by setting up filtering
rules that are triggered by whatever key word(s) you choose or even
by person (I won't elaborate on that one). You
could set up a filter to catch anything with the word "jobs" or
"position" in the subject line to be deleted. You have to be careful
though as your rules could end up deleting useful messages if not
formed carefully. I use this function extensively with Pegasus and
it saves me a great deal of time.
