Call for Papers
Special Issue on Cancer Resources on the Internet
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Health Care on the Internet (HCI) is a quarterly periodical
devoted to consumer, personal, and community health care information
sources and the Internet. The primary objective is to identify and
disseminate the vast amount of Internet-accessible materials to
academic, special, and public libraries; patient education centers,
community hospitals, consumer organizations, and the lay public.
Published by Haworth Press, the first two issues are currently in press.
The third issue of Health Care on the Internet (v. 1, no. 3, Fall 1997)
will be a thematic one devoted to Internet resources for cancer
information. The editors of HCI are currently looking for suitable papers
for this issue. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
* reviews of specific cancer sources available via the Internet.
* overview of secondary sites which guide or point users to cancer
sources.
* cancer-related Chat groups.
* annotated guide to cancer-related mailing lists or newsgroups.
* "ask the doctor" services on the Internet.
* techniques for searching the Internet for cancer information.
* cancer-related organizations on the Internet
* using the Internet to locate cancer research and treatment providers
Papers should be geared to the health care consumer or health care
professional who might interact with a potential patient or client who uses
the Internet.
Individuals wishing to contribute a paper to this special issue should
contact Sandy Wood, Associate Editor, via e-mail (wood@hslc.org), phone
(717-531-8630), or mail. The Health Care on the Internet Web Page
(http://www.lib.hmc.psu.edu/hci/hci.htm) may be consulted for further
information, including instructions for prospective authors.
Papers must be approved in advance by the editors and will be due
November 15, 1996.
