COORDINATOR OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

The Coordinator of Information Technology is the librarian responsible
for planning library technology for the Iona College Libraries and
managing all aspects of the $2 million state-of-the-art Helen T.
Arrigoni  Library/Technology Center. The librarian works
collaboratively with Computing and Information Services to facilitate
campus access to and knowledge of information technology.

The HTA Center has 73 multimedia Pentium-based workstations, a Digital
Resource Room, a Logicraft CD-ROM server, and collections supporting
academic programs. The Coordinator manages the Center, supervises 5
part-time staff and 8-10 student workers,  maintains the Libraries'
World Wide Web-based public interface and participates in planning and
maintaining the campus World Wide Web.

This administrative position is responsible for coordinating and
promoting the use of the libraries' electronic resources, planning
overall library technology, and providing instruction to faculty and
students on the use of information technology. The librarian also
serves on the Library Administrative Council and the Library Services
Council. May work occasional evening or weekend hours.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Master's Degree from an ALA-accredited
program; experience in library automation systems and Internet
technologies; knowledge of Windows 95, HTML, and Multimedia. The
successful candidate is a team player with excellent interpersonal and
problem-solving skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience managing a library unit or
computer lab; supervisory experience; NOTIS LMS; experience in a
networked environment.

SALARY: $32-35K, 12 month contract.

CHIEF OF TECHNICAL SERVICES

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Manages the Technical Services Division which
includes Acquisitions, Circulation, Cataloging and Processing
departments through the respective heads of those units.  Formulates
policies, plans and sets goals, evaluates and initiates changes in
procedures, and develops the division annual budget.  Represents the
Library in contacts with representatives of firms and other
organizations who supply library materials or services to the
Library.  Reviews and advises on contracts for library materials or
services.  Consults with the city Purchasing Agent on selection of
bid items.  Regularly meets with the Assistant Director for Support
Services, other administrative staff, and unit managers to discuss

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in Library Science
from an ALA accredited school.  Five years progressively responsible
library experience.  Three years management experience over a
technical service unit or department desirable.  Knowledge of

 Ability to freely move about the work environment in all locations.
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment as
necessary.  Must have or be able to obtain a valid Texas Driver's
License and comply with the Mayor's policy for the operation of city
vehicles.  This is a City of Houston safety impact position.  Any

before appointment.  This position is also subject to random drug

    The formation of a new College of Information Science and
Technology at the University of Nebraska at Omaha has created an
opportunity in the University Library for a dynamic reference
librarian to serve the information needs of the new college and
to initiate library services for distance education.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists library users through general and specialized reference
work (both print and electronic), instruction, and lectures.
Serves as liaison with faculty and develops the collection in the
subject areas of information science & technology and
engineering. Leads library initiatives to provide distance
education to off-campus patrons.  Assists in the development of
library policies and procedures and participates in special
activities and projects.  Fulfills requirements of faculty status

QUALIFICATIONS:
