I can only speak for myself, but I appreciate David posting notice of two
items that look at technology critically. As someone who has placed himself
at the doorway between the true technologists and those who want or need
to know more, I feel one must always approach technological solutions to
problems with a critical eye. My background in geography and ecology
tells me that the consequences of our actions are difficult to fully discern
and even more difficult to completely comprehend. We owe it to ourselves,
but more importantly to the planet that is our temporary home, to act
responsibly. This means making intelligent, far-sighted choices regarding
the path of our society, the technologies we choose to use, and the uses to
which they are put.
