The existence (which I have just stumbled across on the ARL WWW pages) of the
Directory of North American Research Libraries needs to be pointed out. It
is a creation of Judith Hopkins and associated staff at SUNY Buffalo and
gives management with addresses and phone numbers and email addresses of a
wide range of research libraries. It is startlingly up to date and appears
to be well maintained. Its URL is
