The Association of Information Dissemination Centers (ASIDIC) is pleased to
announce its Fall 1996 Meeting in Louiville, Kentucky. Below you will find
an updated program and registration information.

ASIDIC is a professional organization whose membership are all interested
in the electronic dissemination of information and/or related and support
activities in the electronic information industry. Our meetings are a
lively interchange of ideas and a good chance to meet with many of the
folks involved in today's electronic information industry. The site is
Louisville and if you read on, you will see that it should be both
picturesque and interesting. We hope to see you at the meeting. Come and

Disintermediation in the Digital Age...
Is the Information Value Chain Disintegrating?
Program Chair: Janice Kirkwood, Ovid Technologies, Inc.
Abstract: Unprecedented change is sweeping through the
information industry, leaving no "link" in the "information
value chain" untouched. New players, enabling technologies
and economic pressures are transforming conventional
distribution channels and re-shaping users' requirements.
Will long-held roles be displaced as "value added" is
discounted, or will they simply extend apace with
technology? What are the economics of information delivery
when the end user expects it to be free? And how has this
change impacted our customers?
ASIDIC's Fall '96 conference will consider these questions,
examining some of the paths that emerging and traditional
information chain providers are taking as they meet today's
challenges and strive to create products and services to
meet the expectations of users in the digital age.

The much anticipated "coming of age" of the World Wide

1996 FALL MEETING
September 15-17, 1996

Each year, for the past 122 years, the first Saturday in May has
seen the running of the Kentucky Derby the first jewel in
racing's Triple Crown. The site for the Kentucky Derby is
Churchill Downs racetrack in Louisville, Kentucky. For those who
have never had the opportunity to experience the Derby
personally, the Kentucky Derby museum offers a peek into not only
"the most famous two minutes in horse racing" (the Derby), but
thoroughbred horse racing in general. Located on the grounds of
Churchill Downs, the Kentucky Derby Museum is the site for the
Monday night activities during the 1996 ASIDIC Fall Meeting.
Before dining, you can tour the track; see the Twin Spires; test
your skill and knowledge on hands-on computerized displays; view
the many examples of racing memorabilia; stand in an actual
starting gate; sit on a jockey scale; see how the "horse-set"
lives by viewing doll houses that replicate buildings on the C.
V. Whitney Estate in Lexington, Kentucky; read descriptions of
all past 122 Derbies; or view the actual race of Derbies
past pick the year and relive the race. Before the dinner, a
special presentation will "complete" your Derby experience (as
much as it can be without actually being there!)
It promises to be an evening full of different experiences those
uniquely available in Louisville, the home of the Kentucky Derby.
As has become traditional, the ASIDIC Open Golf Tournament has
been booked for Fuzzy Zoellers Covered Bridge Course. The course
is approximately 20 minutes from the Seelbach Hotel. Tee times
have been reserved beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, September
15. The fee is $60 per player, which includes greens fees and
cart.

Planned social activities include the Sunday night reception in
the hotel. On Monday night attendees and guests will enjoy a
visit to Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby Museum, including
