We vare a medium size college library, in the process of
installing fibre-optic cabling. Plans call for gradually
replacing terminals with IBM compatible PCs. We would
appreciate hearing from similar size libraries having
gone through a similar change.
Specifically, we would like to hear whether the Web and
other online services are all accessed on all PCs in your
library, or whether certain functions are clustered. we
would also like to hear how you handle printing (staffing-
facilities). Do you have a library server?
Our system will include the Web, online catalog, and other
online indexes (FirstSearch, Wilson Online and Uncover),
and a small LAN (four PCs) for selected CD-ROM databases.
We are interested in learning how you have handled this
kind of change in your library.
