*** REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ***
Any information on the experience of other institutions on planning
or implementing a program similar to the one described below is
requested. Documents describing the programs, including job
descriptions, are welcome.
The University of Tulsa Library is designing a library-college
information resources program. The goals of the program are to
strengthen communication and program development between the
library and the colleges on a variety of subjects. These include
collection development, utilization of library-related information
technology, and library services.
A professional librarian will be assigned to each college, and will
work with a to-be-created college library committee. That
committee will have a representative from each department (possibly
the chair). The librarian will also work with each department
individually.
Goals include assessing their information needs of both print and
electronic resources, ascertaining with more accuracy the specific
information needs of teaching and research, identifying with
greater clarity the service needs of students and faculty, and in
general, fostering closer ties between the library and its
constituency.
