ALA Conference program sponsored by the Interlibrary Cooperation
and Networking Section of ASCLA and the Public Libraries in the Information
Superhighway Committee of  PLA.

Keynote speaker:
Toni Carbo, Dean of the School of Information Sciences, U. of
Pittsburgh   "Access to the Information Superhighway:   Issues,
Challenges and Actions"

Panelists to follow:
*  John Hammond, Executive Director, North Country Reference and
    Research Resources Council, New York
*  Steve Helm, Blacksburg Electronic Village, Christiansburg, VA
*  Keith Fiels, Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, MA

This program will emphasize the political and socio-cultural
implications of Internet access provided by libraries.  How can we
achieve 100% equality and quality access to the Internet;  what policy
and funding issues need to be addressed;   what partnership and
leadership behaviors are necessary to achieve equity of access?
