The Middle Management Discussion Group conducts three sessions during the =
upcoming 1996 ALA Annual Conference in New York, NY. Please join your =
middle manager friends in sharing experiences and emotions in a non-threate=
ning environment. The discussion group is designed to enhance skills, and =
stimulate reflection.
Sunday, 7 July 1996, 9:30-11:00 AM
New York Hilton, Morgan Suite
Co-chairs Katie Margolis, Cornell University School of Hotel Administration=
, and Sally Rogers, Ohio State University, will conduct this business and =
planning meeting. 1996 Program Chair Caryn J. Carr, Lock Haven University,=
will finalize plans for Monday*s MMDG*s Program on Training and Retraining=
for the Year 2000. Long range planning Co-chairs Marie Morgan, University=
of New Orleans, and Felice Maciejewski, Tulane University of Louisiana, =
will preview plans for our 1997 program. This is a good opportunity to =
learn about the workings of the discussion group, meet colleagues =
informally, and get involved.

Sheraton New York, Imperial Ballroom A
Assistant Professor John Farquhar, Ph.D. of the Pennsylvania State =
University at Harrisburg, will present a keynote address on Training and =
Retraining for the Year 2000. Priscilla Neil, University of Cincinnati, =
will then facilitate a panel discussion including Dr. Farquhar, Maureen =
Sullivan, Association of Research Libraries, and another participant from =
a public library, to be announced at the program.

Javits Convention Center, 1A 13
Caryn Carr, Lock Haven University, will assume the duties of MMDG Chair =
for the 1996/97 term. Following a post-mortem of Monday*s program, Marie =
Morgan, University of New Orleans, 1997 Program Co-chair, will provide an =
update about and will seek volunteers for the 1996 program. Finally, we =
will select the 1997 Long Range Planning Chairperson and identify =
potential program topics.
