In the 1980's the battle cry was a call for convergence in platforms.
Instead of one interface for the catalog and a dozen different interfaces to
search a dozen CDROM products, and instead of a different piece of equipment
to access each product, we criet out for a single box and a single interface
that could do it all. Now we have web catalogs, web search tools, new web
interfaces to old familiar databases, and thoretically, these can all be
accessed from one machine and one browser. So our dream is becoming a
virtual reality. Is it everything we hoped for? Come to the RASD MARS Hot
