ALA NYC Internet Room -- address notification

The American Library Association (ALA) will hold its annual meeting in
the city of New York from July 4 - July 10. As in past years, the
Library and Information Technology Association (LITA) is coordinating
the setup and management of an Internet Room at the ALA conference.
The hours of operation of the Internet Room are as follows:
Saturday July 6 (09:00-16:00)
Sunday July 7 (09:00-17:00)
Monday July 8 (09:00-17:00)
Tuesday July 9 (09:00-13:00)
Among other things, access to personal electronic mail (using telnet and
tn3270 terminal emulation) will be available to conference attendees.
However, if your home domain restricts access based upon secure host
authorization or firewall, you may be unable to telnet/tn3270 to your
usual host in order to login and check mail. This problem can usually
be solved by asking your domain/site administrator to allow traffic from
a specific network to pass through your domain gateway for the duration
of the conference.
The information you will need to provide the site administrator in order
to enable authorized access is:
domain name of on-site hosts = Cybersites.net
network address = 207.51.34.*
range of IP addresses in Internet Room = 207.51.34.11 to 207.51.34.44
(and) 207.51.34.200 to 207.51.34.210
We have asked the network service provider to provide DNS entries for
all of these hosts, but have not received word on whether the request
will be enabled or not. The canonical names we have requested are:
irnyc1.Cybersites.net, irnyc2.Cybersites.net, ...
Furthermore, please note that one often must telnet/tn3270 to a hostname
which is different than that reflected in ones address. For example,
email address is: joe@foobar.com
must telnet to: foo.bar.foobar.com
Please check with your system administrator prior to leaving for
conference to make sure you know which host will accept telnet/tn3270
traffic for your domain. There will be trained staff on-site to assist
you, but having the correct and relevant information prior to leaving
for conference will assist the staff in helping you.
