The DS5000 series all appear to have decent modem control. The shared
line feature would also need a modified gettytab. Getty will grab the
line and not let go unless a timeout (TO) flag is set on the line.
Kermit by default does not know from shared lines and screws up on this.
I know John Kohl sent in a patch a long time ago, but the alpha version
of the latest kermit still had the problem.
I suspect tip might do the right thing....
