I cancelled my talk on sendmail.cf last night because I couldn't get
an official answer from anyone in the BBLISA adminstration on whether
or not the meeting was still on, so I opted to work on a deadline I
have instead of getting enough sleep. I would have needed to go home
and get a few hours of sleep in order to be able to give the talk.

I hope that my talk can be rescheduled for sometime in the near
future. If and when it happens, it will be an introduction to
sendmail.cf programming. As part of the introduction, we will look at
a relatively small and clean sendmail.cf that I wrote from scratch
with the design goal of making it as small and clean as possible. It
is the unnecessary complexity and messiness, I believe, of most
sendmail.cf's that causes many people (including me) to be confused by
them. My sendmail.cf should work with little or no modification or
configuration on any machine that is on the Internet, has domain name
service, and deals with UUCP mail by sending it to a forwarding host.
Its limitations are that it requires DNS and doesn't do UUCP (except
by delegating the UUCP responsibilties to someone else).

Some people did show up at the meeting site last night. Doug Mildram
talked about a sendmail.cf generator (it asks you some questions and
then makes a sendmail.cf for your site) that he has put together by
adding some of his sweat to an already existing sendmail.cf generator.
People chatted about some of their sendmail.cf questions. There was
also some chatting about modems and other miscellaneous things.

P.S. It was mentioned by someone at the meeting that Rich Salz's wife
just had a baby a few days ago, so I think we can forgive him about
forgetting the meeting and wish him a hearty congratulations. He
now probably needs sleep even more than I do.
