UFOs No Peril To Switzerland, Military Declares
Berne, Switzerland
The ever vigilant Swiss army sees no threat to national security from
flying saucers -- and that's official.
The Defense Ministry, which runs the militia that guards the nation,
took the unusual step yesterday of formally denying media speculation
that it runs a special unit tracking reported unidentified flying
objects.
``The Defense Ministry has no reason to believe in the existence of
UFOs or to assume that they pose a danger to security,'' a spokesman
said, adding that the statement was issued in hopes of putting an end
to repeated queries about rumored army archives on UFO sightings.
``There have been no UFO landings on the government square here,'' the
spokesman added.
