U.S. Government bans IP

U.S. congressional leaders today passed a bill that will ban the
Internet Protocol.

"All our studies into Internet crime and indecency indicate that
almost every illegal and immoral act committed on the Internet shares
one common factor: they all make use of this Internet Protocol thing,"
said a congressional source.

When asked if Congress realized that IP was the basis for all Internet
traffic, the source said, "Don't bother us with all that technical
mumbo-jumbo. We believe this measure will cause a drastic reduction in
Internet crime, and that's all there is to it."

President Clinton is reportedly waiting eagerly for the bill to reach
his desk so he can sign it.

"We're glad Congress has decided to take decisive action to combat
this high-tech crime wave," a senior White House official said.

When contacted by concerned computer industry leaders, congressmen
reportedly plugged their ears and said, "La la. I can't hear you. La,
la, la" loudly and repeatedly.
