Nor do I. It's a self serving answer.The truth is more along the lines of, it
makes them feel good. Like a "gang" hazing new students and calling them
stupid. You see it's not enough to have more knowledge and be superior, they
have to feel superior.

I disagree. I tried to get PWS going for days. I got Apache running in

than editing the registry.

You read the documentation that comes with perl. Especially the
Frequently Asked Questions. The things you _always_ check before post.
The FAQ about sorting arrays might be useful...
How do I sort an array by (anything)...
You can find the answer in the documentation that comes with perl.

Scott,
In 15 minutes, I grabbed the Net::Telnet module from ActiveState, installed it,
and got some simple code working...
Make sure you pass in the hostname, username, and password...in that order...
#! c:\perl\bin\perl.exe
$host = shift;
$username = shift;
$passwd = shift;
use Net::Telnet ();
$t = new Net::Telnet (Timeout => 10,
Prompt => '/[\$%#>] $/');
$t->open($host);
$t->login(Name => $username,
Password => $passwd);
@lines = $t->cmd("uname -a");
print @lines;
print "\n\n";
@lines = $t->cmd("w");
print @lines;
exit;

To submit articles to comp.lang.perl.misc (and this Digest), send your

To submit articles to comp.lang.perl.announce, send your article to

To request back copies (available for a week or so), send your request

where x is the volume number and y is the issue number.
The Meta-FAQ, an article containing information about the FAQ, is
available by requesting "send perl-users meta-faq". The real FAQ, as it
appeared last in the newsgroup, can be retrieved with the request "send

are included in the digest.
The "mini-FAQ", which is an updated version of the Meta-FAQ, is
available by requesting "send perl-users mini-faq". It appears twice

For other requests pertaining to the digest, send mail to

sending perl questions to the -request address, I don't have time to
