This is to announce a more general Beta Release of Linux-AFS, a port
of Transarc AFS to Linux, for the MIT community.
While I have been able to use this software, it is not guaranteed that
it won't scribble over your hard drive and destroy your ram chips.
Also, the current release is not guaranteed to work on any version of
Linux other than 1.1.48. However there are currently no known bugs in
the software.
That notwithstanding, you can obtain Linux-AFS from the afsdev locker:
attach afsdev
cd /mit/afsdev/beta/i386_linux1
In this directory you will find a README file, and a Notes file, that
explain how to install Linux-AFS, how to tell me that you have
obtained Linux-AFS, and how to report bugs.
Please watch the beta directory in afsdev for further updates and
bug-fix releases. If you have any questions, please feel free to
ask!
Enjoy!
