From: ghudson@MIT.EDU Date: Thu, 28 Jul 94 10:50:43 -0400 To: linux-dev@MIT.EDU I built a version of tcsh for Linux. It's currently sitting in /afs/sipb/project/tcsh/dev/.build.i386_linux1/tcsh. I'll install it in /afs/sipb/project/tcsh/tcsh as soon as Derek fixes the executables bug in Linux-AFS (it can't run executables out of AFS unless they're small or already all in cache). This version of tcsh sets HOSTTYPE to linux, rather than i386-linux. /bin/tcsh on most Linux systems sets HOSTTYPE to i386-linux, resulting in $bindir being i386-linuxbin for many people. We may want to distribute this as /bin/athena/tcsh in the Linux-Athena stuff. I'll set this up soon. As long as I'm sending mail: I plan to migrate linux-athena into AFS space as soon as Linux-AFS comes out of beta, so that we can free up space on sipb-nfs (which competes with discuss and, right now, some WAIS stuff which shouldn't be on the same disk). If people think this is a bad idea, tell me.
