This is to announce the Beta Release of Linux-AFS, a port of
Transarc AFS to Linux.
If you received this mail directly, then you are on the acl to obtain
the software. I highly recommend that you only beta test this
software if you are willing to put in the time to do real testing.
While I have been able to use this software, it is not guaranteed that
it won't scribble over your hard drive and destroy your ram chips.
Also, the current release is not guaranteed to work on any version of
Linux other than 1.1.33.
That notwithstanding, you can obtain Linux-AFS from the afsdev locker:
attach afsdev
cd /mit/afsdev/beta/i386_linux1
In this directory you will find a README file that explains how to
install Linux-AFS, how to tell me that you have obtained Linux-AFS,
and how to report bugs (to the linux-afs mailing list, once it
propagates out of moira tonight).
Please watch the beta directory in afsdev for further updates and
bug-fix releases. If you have any questions, please feel free to
ask!
Enjoy!
