I also observe this problem from time to time, from Epsilon Theta's
subnet. ... so it's not necessarily something about the dorms.

I was noticing it most often when I had my machine hooked up directly through a
thinnet-to-AUI tranceiver to the repeater that MIT has given/loaned us....
