linuxbin in frequently used lockers ?

Since the number of linux users are increasing steadily, is there a
possibility of compiling the programs in most of the commonly used
lockers for for linux and have a linuxbin ? Since most of the vax will
be gone soon, so I guess linuxbins can simply replace the space taken up
by the vaxbins. What problems would there be with third party software ?
Liscensing issues ? Any other resons against having a linuxbin ?
