This is a known issue that got fixed in 8.4.15 (which is the latest
release). The installer installs slightly older RPMs and expects that
the installed machine will take the update soon.

The easiest thing for you to do might be to leave the machine up and idle
overnight, with the UP kernel, and wait for the hesiod information you
requested to take effect, and for it to take the update automatically.
Then, after you've verified that it took the update correctly (check
out /etc/athena/version and /var/athena/update.log), restarting with
the SMP kernel should work.

Please let us know if this doesn't solve the problem, or if you have
any other questions. Thank you for letting us know how it went.
