I had assumed this was done. When I tried out the installer in text
mode, I wasn't asked about any packages. Don't know who dealt with
this, though.

If you can stand a 1.75 hour install, you can use this set up:
Sam> ni:/afs/sipb/system/rhlinux/redhat-6.2
Sam> modify stuff in /afs/sipb/system/rhlinux/redhat-6.2
Sam> jweiss can copy stuff onto charon once tested.
