user problems with sipb linux installer

a user (jdunagan) called the SIPB office because he was having
problems with his install using the alpha installer (on
cormorant.lcs.mit.edu). He had the following problems with his
system.
1) HOST was empty in rc.conf
2) resolv.conf contained a nameserver he'd entered dring the install,
and not 127.0.0.1 (and his real problem was a typo here.) He also had
search lcs.mit.edu, which I'm not sure whether to consider a bug.
I asked him to send mail, but I figured I'd send this in so you'd have
the bug report sooner.
