Perhaps, but a lot of the point of the current Linux-Athena work is to
use the Athena configurations. In addition, as per a lot of issues
from you, Ted, Tom, Chris, etc. w.r.t. off-campus machines, Linux-Athena
is a set of stable packages that layer on top of pure Linux.

Perhaps we should change the name to something like
'mailhost.mit.edu', an internal name that the athena clients use which
is separate from the external 'athena.mit.edu' domain name. This way
you have the ability to MX 'internal' machines and 'external' machines
separately.

What is the "desired behavior," in particular w.r.t. off-campus
