4.2 install problems (still)

The same user who called yesterday and led to the discovery of the broken
install has called again just now saing that nothing has changed as of 8:45
this morning. I tried looking in the /sipb-nfs/redhat/4.2/i386/RedHat/base
and /sipb-nfs/redhat/4.2/i386/RedHat/instimage directory, but I'm not certain
how the files are supposed to look.
I told the user to install everything except X for now, and install X manually
once he gets everything else up and running. I hope someone more
knowledgeable can help.
