Well, I'm getting kind of hosed at work, so it would be in my best
interest to stop wasting time with Keesh for a while. Here are the
status reports people might want to look into:

Experience has shown that email is beyond my comprehension, so I've
decided to leave anything even vaguely email-related (mh, sendmail,
etc.) to other people. Someone should make all the email stuff work.
P.S. This is not a big deal, but I'd sort of like to see mh get an
independant source tree (/usr/athena/src/src/mh, buildable separately
from kerberos) since mh is a pretty damn large package by itself.

We need an /etc/rc.local which does things that the tamu rc scripts
seem to screw up. For example: turning on swap space (I created
/swapfiles/swap, but I think "mkswap /swapfiles/swap 16000" has to be
run on it after a reboot). Also, mounting nfs filesystems with "mount
-vat nfs" (I dont know why that's not done automatically) and running
/etc/athena/gettime and anything else that seems useful and necessary.

I have not yet installed moira, olc, olh, techinfo, or anything with a
libcurses browser, because I hear libncurses is less buggy on Linux,
and I'd like to try to build some programs with both libraries to see
which works better. (Unless someone else wants to do this, please.)

xlogin wont compile because the shadow password library doesn't
contain the necessary routines. I rebuilt the shadow library from the
sources in /usr/src and it still doesn't work. I'm stumped.

tamu seems to come without perl. Someone should build it, and make it
part of the athena source tree on the assumption that random other
people might want it.

attach is silently failing on NFS mounts. I remember we had this
problem once before. What was the solution?

tex is only half installed because I didn't have my environment
variables set right, and make install died. That shouldn't take too
long to fix.

This email is way too long. Have a nice day.
-Sal.
