This will be a big win.
I'm hoping that the pricing information doesn't apply to us, but they
may pull a fast one and say that Linux isn't like other Unix
platforms. We'll see.

Dear AFS Contacts:
Many of you have inquired about the the availability of AFS for Linux.
Well, we are pleased to
inform you that AFS Version 3.5 will provide both Server and Client support
for Linux. The target Beta Availability date is October 31, 1998 with a
General Availability Date of January 31, 1999.

As previously announced, AFS in now priced on a Networked Server and
Registered Entity/User basis. When released in 1999 as part of AFS version
3.5, the Linux port will be under this price structure. The AFS Server for
Linux will be priced at $1995 in the U.S., similar to the AFS Server for NT.
The Registered Entity/User price will be priced at $99 in the U.S., similar
to all other UNIX and NT new pricing.
However, we are offering our current AFS customers the ability to purchase
Linux Registered Entities/Users at a highly discounted price. For purchase
orders place by October 31, 1998, we are offering special pricing as follows
in the table below. Note - These are U.S. and Canadian prices. All other
geography prices are priced 20% higher. Purchasing AFS Registered
Entities/Users for Linux at the discounted price is dependent upon receipt
of your valid purchase order by October 31, 1998 for the purchase of the
Beta Version code. The Beta Version code will be shipped to you once
available in 1998. The General Availability Version will then automatically
be shipped to you once available in January 1999.

Annual Support and Maitenance is calculated at the new AFS pricing structure
