I think the best answer may be to just do things using SRVD's in the general
case, but always keep up-tp-date RPM's available as an option
for power-users.  (Essentially what Ted suggested).
Even with 20% of the users wanting to do things by hand
and only install individual packages, we really should make
it possible (and not to difficult) for them to do.
I'd also be shocked if more than a small number of people
in ILG's at the end of the 56k frame relays will want
to use the srvd.  (And the remaining few who do will probably
be shot by their housemates.  ;-)

Also, if we are going to go off and put together our
own system for installation and distribution, it is critical
that the whole thing be documented and remain documented.
(Otherwise we'll end up with a system totally reliant on the
two or three people who understand how it works and is set up).

If we go with a srvd approach, we may also want to set
up some replication of the srvds (possibly by mirroring them)
in the Athena cell and on other servers.
