Thanks for the info.  You're right, it doesn't work.  The problem is
that kpsetool is in the tetex package, which would add 17MB to the
installed system.  I didn't realize this when I installed xdvi, nor
did I realize that there was this dependency.  Oops.

I'll send mail to Redhat and let them know about this dependency.
For now, I guess, use xdvi out of the sipb locker?
