I distinctly recall Sam Hartman talking about this exact problem in the
office a long time ago (read last semester or earlier). I'm fairly sure
that he (or someone) had a fix.
Since it appears that the Athena source tree received this patch, the problem
is presumably due to the fact that the Sipb sources are not really up to date.
