As a first step, I've compared the contents of the a.out and elf
packages with each other. There are a number of differences. I've
stored the diffs and the script used to generate the unified diff in
/mit/linux/people/sit. Someone who knows more about the contents of
these packages (e.g. Sal) should take a look at my package.diffs file.
I think that at the very least, the two package trees should be
sync'ed.
Jered has been saying something about wanting to recompile all the
packages since none of us really know what Sal did. It might be a good
idea anyway, to compile the latest libs and do a complete
build. (Whatever came of the new build engine?)

Probably a good idea. My roommate's computer often argues with his
video card and dies when people are logged in at console. This leaves
these hesiod created users in /etc/passwd, which gets them by
noremote.
