Would anyone object if I reorganized the part of the linux locker as
	follows?

It's a good idea. Do it.

We could put common stuff (eg README, kernel src, link to AFS release,
	mit-named) in /mit/linux/packages...

README should be in the top-level of packages, but for the other
stuff, consider a "common" subdirectory.

I'm not sure that the (current) pkg-lists dir is entirely up
to date, so if I move stuff around, I could rebuild the lists too.

The current pkg-lists are reasonable. (The phrase "good-enough" comes
to mind.) But it's probably pretty easy to find a few minor things
that should be added, deleted, or moved. I encourage you to find
them. :-)
