I installed RedHat-2.0 on an IBM mod 350 p100 today. I did
an ftp install which went pretty smoothly though I'm not sure that
everything which was ftp'ed was actually installed. If you notice below,
I can't believe that diff is not part of the standard distribution.
Anyways, I hope this is useful... let me know if anyone has any
hints or similar experiences or even better experiences :)
Missing things
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Need XFree86 2.x compatibility libs --- obtained from parallax by
getting a tar file of all the libs with a "3" in it and untarring
here.
No diff!
No named --- obtained from harlie into /usr/sbin and modified /etc/resolv.conf
No host/nslookup/dig
Where's xlockmore?
Athena stuff
^^^^^^^^^^^^
Added the following packages (cd /; tar -zxf)
afs-1.2.13.tar.gz inetd.conf.add mhlib.tgz mit-named.tgz
attach.tgz kerberos.tgz mhmail.tgz services.add
moira.tgz zephyr.tgz misc.tgz delete.tgz
etc/sendmail.cf* taken from sendmail.tgz. Modified sendmail.cf to point
OQ at /var/spool/mqueue, as opposed to /usr/spool/mqueue.
Also need to create a symlink from /usr/sbin/sendmail to /usr/lib/sendmail.
I suppose I *could* use the sendmail that is in sendmail.tgz.... but I didn't
check what version that was.
Configuration/security details
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Lots of worthless stuff in /etc/inetd.conf taken out.
default gotten vixie-cron needs to be patched (get from updates RPMS dir)
Created a symlink from /etc/rc.afs to /etc/rc.d/init.d/rc.afs and then
call it from rc3.d/S65afs and rc5.d/S65afs.
anonymous ftp disabled (/etc/ftpaccess)
