As people hear about conferences that they think subscribers of the
msug list might find interesting, I encourage you to send notices to
the list. I hear about the Maple ones, but don't tend to hear about
ones Mathematica, Matlab, Macsyma, etc.

To start things off, here is some information about the 2nd annual
Maple Summer Workshop and Symposium. I went to the first one, and
found it very interesting. The date for paper submissions has
passed, but I'm forwarding this for anybody that would be interested
in simply attending the conference.

                              Second Annual
MAPLE SUMMER WORKSHOP AND SYMPOSIUM -- MSWS 93

                            June 28-30, 1993
                    University of Michigan, Ann Arbor

The Maple Summer Workshop and Symposium (MSWS) is an annual
forum for exchanging techniques and ideas on appropriate and
innovative use of Maple in education and research.

Who Should Attend MSWS 93?

All Maple users, from novices to experts will benefit from
participating in MSWS 93. Beginners will find the hands-on short
courses to be an ideal introduction to Maple. Experienced users
will learn increase their Maple skills through the advanced
tutorial stream. Everyone will benefit from the stimulating
exchange of ideas at the invited talks, paper sessions,
workshops, and other meetings.

Academic users will discover many new ideas for their research
and teaching. Industrial and commercial professionals will
develop new skills to increase their problem-solving
productivity. In other words, MSWS 93 is meant for everyone.

The MSWS has 2 main components: short courses and a symposium

Short Course

The course portion consists of a 1.5 day hands-on short course.
Participants will choose one of two course streams

- "Discovering Maple" is intended for Maple novices and
will stress the many functions and elementary
          problem-solving techniques.

- "Mathematical Productivity with Maple" is an intensive
introduction to the Maple system. It is intended for
more advanced users and stresses language techniques
          for solving larger Maple problems.

All courses will use Maple V Release 2 -- the newest version of
Maple. You will be introduced to the latest features and
specific techniques for getting the most out of what will
undoubtedly become the most powerful computer algebra system
available. Most sessions will be hands-on in nature and the
total course time will be 11 hours.

The instructors will be some of the best Maple educators in the
world . Each instructor will also be assisted by knowledgeable
tutors.

An open session where participants can ask questions, offer
suggestions, raise grievances, etc. to head members of Waterloo
Maple Software and the Symbolic Computation Group.
