Hey fellow MIT msug folks!
If you haven't already perused the IAP Guide, I'll be giving one
of my almost-annual Maple talks. Here is the published description,
which I hope to mostly stick to:
! Activity Name:
! Maple - Mathematics meets Computer Science
!
! Schedule:
! Monday, January 23, 1:00-3:00pm, E40-302
!
! Prerequisites:
! Some minimal Maple programming experience, junior/senior student level
! of exposure to modern algebra or issues of theoretical computing
!
! Description:
! Explore relationships between mathematical concepts (e.g., algebras,
! categories, decideability) and computing, using Maple to see some of
! what computer algebra systems can (and cannot) do. No proofs, lots of
! buzzwords.
If you are interested in attending, just show up. Officially we can seat
30 people in the room, but in past I've found that I usually get about
10-15, so I'm not bothering with pre-registration. Seating will thus be
on a first-come, first-served basis.
In addition, I only expect to use about half of the time for the material
that I'll be preparing, so this will be a good chance for you to bring
your own collection of Maple questions.
