Sounds like you may be missing a codec specifically required by that .AVI
file. (.AVI is not necesssarily a single format for audio/video, but one
that accomodates many--and often incompatible--codecs). See if you can find
out specifically how it is encoded and compare the codecs installed on the
Windows 2000 and the Windows XP machines from the Sounds and Audio Devices
Control Panel | Hardware tab | Video Codecs item Properties. Perhaps the
difference will explain the problem, in which case you will need to
transfer the codec over (need an installer, otherwise not so simple) to the
Windows XP machine or re-encode the video.
