Hello-
Here at UCSC, we're in the development phase of implementing desktop
authentication using the Kerberos features of Windows 2000 with our MIT
KDC. The carrot to this stick is our attempt to give desktop AFS access to
the authenticated user. We don't have a license (or can afford it) for the
IBM/TransArc AFS client, and the OpenAFS client doesn't utilize kerberos
authentication, beit from a MS tgt or a MIT tgt. I have emailed Ken
Hornstein at the US Navy about this, since they have source for their
version of kinit and aklog for AFS, but it's still not a complete solution
for us yet. He is also very busy with other projects... He did mention
that some folks at MIT wrote a utility that converts a MS tgt to a MIT tgt.
So... the reason I'm writing is essentially for help regarding AFS on
Windows. We have configured our test W2K systems to obtain a tgt from our
MIT Kerberos realm, using ksetup and Active Directory. What we need now is
an AFS client that can utilize that tgt to give permissions in our AFS cell
space.
Do you have such a client? If so, can you send it our way? If not, can
you point us in the right direction?
