Re: Eudora version 5 Product Release Effort

Product Release Effort Underway
-------------------------------
In mid-October, Qualcomm made the version of Eudora 5 available that
reflects our site license and allows MIT users to obtain Eudora in
paid mode. Since then, a release team has been working to create a
customized installer that contains settings specific to MIT, update
documentation and training, and assist the Computing Help Desk with
training to support the widespread use of Eudora.

New Features
------------
The release of version 5 brings new features such as ESP (Eudora
Sharing Protocol), MoodWatch, and Email Usage Stats. We will be
testing these features and will provide an overview of the results in
the next product update. For more information about new features,
see the product notebook.

IMAP Support
------------
We are testing IMAP within the MIT Infrastructure with the intention
of supporting it, provided that everything works properly. We will
report on our progress in the next update.

Testing
-------
We will be soliciting testers within the next few weeks and will send
a separate message with details.

Status of Release Effort
------------------------
Within the next month we will have more information available
regarding our testing and the status of the release.

In the meantime, you can go to http://web.mit.edu/swrt/ and click on
the Eudora 5 link to get to the Eudora Release Notebook.
