There is a driver conflict that leaves the system in an unrecoverable state and will require a reinstall of the Windows 2000. More information on the problem is listed below from Jerry Isaacson, our main contact with NAI. Thanks, Jonathan ---begin detail--- Subject: Win 2K and EasyCD Date: Thu, 29 Jun 2000 16:12:08 -0400 From: Gerald I Isaacson <gii@MIT.EDU> There is a conflict between Adaptec's Direct CD ( part of the EasyCd package) and Windows 2000 machines running McAfee Active Virus scan. There are two sys files that are involved and should be renamed to something other than .sys: If EasyCd was upgraded to version 4 there should be a file called cdr4csd.sys which should be renamed. I believe it is in either winnt/systme32/iosubsys or winnt/system32/drivers If the retail version of EasyCd 4 was installed, rename cdudf.sys in winnt/system32/drivers. The problem results in a blue screen error for Win2K that prevents even Safe mode restores. If you have any questions, let me know. Adaptec is working on a fix.
