Anti-Fur Militants Reveal 'War Weekend Against Federated Department Stores
        Target Retailers, Executives

Militant anti-fur activists today announced a
"War Weekend Against Federated" campaign,
targeting the nation's largest department store retailer
in a series of disruptions, protests, credit-card burnings and picketing
at stores, and homes of managers and executives.

The direct actions -- similar to those last year which resulted in hundreds
of arrests nationwide -- begin Saturday and Sunday (July 27-28) in nearly
dozen U.S. cities where retail giant Federated
(Macy's, Bloomingdale's, and 400 other stores) is located.

Activists are also angry at Federated for its part in the jailing of animal
rights activists in Los Angeles. They spent 15 days without food in a LA
County Jail after receiving the longest sentence on record for anti-fur
picketing -- 3 months.

The activists were released Thursday because of their deteriorating physical
condition.

Demonstrations and acts of civil disobedience are scheduled in dozens of
U.S. cities, including, but not limited to, New York, Los Angeles, San
Francisco, Boston, Atlanta, Chicago, Seattle, San Diego, Dallas, Buffalo,
Minneapolis, Indianapolis, Columbia, SC, Albuquerque, Hartford, CT, Portland,
Washington D.C. Syracuse and Memphis.
