Hi Randell,
First - don't worry. The fact that you feel so guilty means you'll never do
that again!
I think I would have done one of the following:
- left quickly
- have brought something to eat just-in-case
- go hungry
But - in my case, all of my co-workers know that I'm vegetarian (as are others
in the group) so there would have been something to eat. I guess I've just
learned to make my needs known in advance. If I'm told that nothing can be
done to accomodate me, I wouldn't go. In fact, I didn't go to many company
functions for many years after becoming vegetarian - especially cook-outs as
the smell just turns my stomach (still does).
